Windows 4 2k

Even though there are mixed opinions whether people will get used to the metro UI, there are still many who want to enjoy the innovative tile-based interface on their computer – just to know what the latest hype is all about.

Luckily, you don’t need to install windows 8 to enjoy the innovative Metro UI. With the application below, you can easily bring the metro UI to your Windows 7 or Windows XP computer.

WinMetro: Metro for Windows 7

WinMetro is a freeware tool designed to bring the innovative Windows 8 ( or not ? ) metro UI to older Operating Systems like Windows 7, Vista and XP. Once installed, you will be able to display real-time information such as weather, emails, stock exchange, news, and more, just like on a real Windows 8 machine.

The app is very easy to use and give you the option to boot to the metro UI automatically after you install the application. Above all, WinMetro gives you an experience very close to Windows 8. Since it is just an overlay program and not an OS, it is even better, as you can just enjoy the innovative and functional home screen while your OS, with which you are used to, still remains the same.

At the time of writing, the app is still in beta version. So, you might experience a few hiccups from time to time.

In short, this is an app that is not used much except to relieve some unfortunates still stuck with Windows XP who want to play with a fake Windows 8. 🙂

The minimum requirement for this app says "300GHz or faster processor required" I don't think this will work on mine. LOL.

Many thanks for such a post. I had no idea that there even exists an app for Metro Style interface in Windows 7. Despite what others might say about Windows 8, I am a big fan of the newest OS, especially the smooth as butter Metro UI
